Juice Plus is the world's first whole food supplement....a breakthrough product. It is produced following strict USDA guidelines. NSA contracts with premium growers in the western US, most of whom are 3rd and 4th generation farmers. Then the produce is washed and scrubbed thoroughly.
Next, it is juiced, then dried, then blended and encapsulated. The juice, the powders and the final product are all tested at each step of the process to insure that there are no herbicides or pesticides in the product.
Most of the produce used is organic. Each batch is also tested for consistent levels of vitamin and mineral content. Juice Plus does not contain Large amounts of any one vitamin or mineral, just a little bit of EVERYTHING that occurs in 17 fruits and vegetables. It is JUICED and then CONCENTRATED. When you remove the cellulose (bulk) from fruits and vegetables, you have a very concentrated powder remaining.
The companies who "partner" with NSA to produce the final product of Juice Plus are the best and some of the oldest in their field...the juicing company, the "drying" company, and NAI (Natural Alternatives International) all work together to produce the product.
JP is clearly the front runner in its patented processing and scientific research. Juice Plus is also approved by TGA, the Therapeutic Goods Association, an international governing board, which require the highest specifications for a neutraceutical product.
When NSA first introduced JP, people stated giving testimonials about what was happening. But some of these were "SO GOOD" that they were almost too good to be true. So NSA launched clinical research on JP, so that we would have alot more then just anecdotal stories. We have research and we have facts.
1. The First level of research demonstrated that the Micronutrition in JP is actually IN the capsules. Quantitative Lab Analysis
2. The second research was the bioavailability study at UCLA, and Kings College, Oxford in England.
After 28 days on JP, antioxidants increased into ranges associated with a reduced risk of disease, and lipid peroxidation decreased significantly, Again, this indicates reduced risk of disease.
This tells us that the micronutrients are indeed absorbed and that plasma level antioxidants increased. This research was published in peer-reviewed journal: Current Therapeutic Research.
3. Then they took the research one step farther. If the antioxidants are indeed absorbed into the blood, what effect will that have on the immune system and DNA? The immune study showed a 4-fold increase in most immune functions in 80 days. After 80 days on JP, T-cells went up and B-CELLS went down.
Also, NK ( natural killer) cells went up 100 to 1 when takng JP.
Within the immune system, B cells tend to be overactive if the immune system is "depressed" or compromised. In a person with a compromised immune system, protein is used by overative B cells, instead of maintaining muscle mass. This is a problem with the elderly especially, since they need muscle mass to maintain metabolism, slow down aging and prevent osteoporosis.
If they reduce the activity of B cells back into the normal range, it helps with slowing the aging process and maintainly muscle mass.
Published in Integrative Medicine. The DNA study. DNA is the basic building block of the human stucture, many diseases can be attribued to the breakdown of DNA. After 80 days on Jp, a>66% reduction in DNA damage occurred by looking at the "tail moment" of a DNA molecule using the assay method . This was published in Nutrition Research.
On going studies are currently taking place in Australia and Austria, These are placebo controlled, double blind, crossover studies which means that there are two groups. One is taking JP and the other a placebo for a period of 4-6 weeks. They then stop for a period of time, and then switch. There are 60-100 participants in each study. The results should be available this year.
In addition, another study is being done on the cardiovascular system studying "vasodiolation" (sp?) at the University of Maryland. Arteries can constrict up to 46% after a high fat meal. Will taking JP make any difference?
There is also a study being done at Vanderbilt Univ. There is a long term study at M.D. Anderson in Houston studying the nutritional status of Cancer survivors.
An epidemiological research is one done on a lot a people over a long period of time: The Children's Research Foundation is funding this kind of study to see if adding JP to a child's diet will make a difference in the number of cold, attendance in school, etc. Children have to be between the ages of 6 and 15 to participate in the study They receive JP for free if the parents go on the product for 1 year. The goal is 50,000 children. Currently over 9,000 families are participating in this long term study. Preliminary results may be announced this year.
JP is clearly the front runner for whole food nutrition and original research in a peer reviewed journal.
